What is it?

The 120-hour Comprehensive TEFL Certificate Program for In-person and Online teaching is the first of its kind.  Many programs which were traditionally targeting face-to-face learning have transitioned to being offered online, but the actual content does not prepare teachers on how to teach through both mediums.  Teaching in person and teaching online is totally different!  Our program prepares a teacher to work with English as a Foreign Language students in real-time, online, and in-person classroom settings.  The program is primarily focused on working with secondary school students, but there are resources and content focusing on young learners and young adults as well, making sure our participants get the full spectrum.

Who Should Attend?

The program is designed for those who want to become English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in an online or in-person setting. Participants must be fluent in English in order to participate. Program Requirements

120-hour comprehensive program:  This is the "full-length" program, incorporating 100 hours of theory, 10 hours of observation, and 10 hours of teaching practicum.  For many participants, they will be able to save time by completing a portion or all of the teaching requirement in our real-time, online classrooms.  Registrants who take this route are required to submit themselves to a background check (done via Checkr) and must agree to sign and abide by our teacher agreement. This is necessary as participants are placed in real-time, online classrooms with Promise Opens Doors partner students.

The program syllabus can be viewed here

Time Commitment

The 120-hour program with practicum components must be completed within 6 months of the start date. All programs are asynchronous. A minimum of 5 hours per week is the recommended amount of time that should be devoted to the online coursework.

If the participant cannot finish in the required time, they will be subject to a non-passing grade for the program. This would require a participant to re-register, pay, and start over.

Grading and Assessment

The program is organized on a pass (satisfactory completion of all requirements)/no pass (unsatisfactory) basis. Satisfactory completion is equal to 80% or higher on all scores.
