Meet our Staff: Michael Moses

November 20, 2017

For the month of November, it is such a treat for us to introduce Michael Moses-- the newest instructor with our TESOL Core Certificate Program.  Get to know this awesome guy a little in his interview below.

1. What type of work did you do before coming to Promise?

I previously worked for six years teaching English reading, writing, and conversation courses at Joongbu University in South Korea, and I am currently working as an assistant professor of TESOL at Paichai University, also in South Korea.

2. What is your education background?

I have a BA in Urban Studies from UC Berkeley and a Masters of Education with an emphasis in TESOL from Framingham State University in Massachusetts.

3. How did you learn about Promise?

I heard about the program from Sonja Osborn, whom I’d met while she was teaching in Korea.

4. What drew you to apply/begin working for Promise?

I am drawn to Promise’s goal of leveling the playing field for English learners by providing quality education to anyone who desires it, regardless of their ability to pay the large sums of money often required by language institutes, especially in Korea.

5. What is your role with our TESOL program?

I recently came on board to facilitate the TESOL certificate courses, particularly in regards to collaborative discussions on the online forum and guidance with the analysis and theory/practice essay assignments.

6. Where do you live?

I have lived in Daejeon, South Korea for the past 7 years.

7. What do you like to do for fun? Hobbies? Activities?

I love the outdoors, with my favorite activities being cycling, rock climbing, and picnicking.

8. Favorite Inspirational Quote?

“Get busy living, or get busy dying.”
